A While Since Spring And Things Forgotten

It's been a while, hasn't it?
Since spring and things forgotten
It's been a while, hasn't it?
Since summer mornings and midnight goodbyes
It's been a while, hasn't it?
Since dewy sleep and bubblegum kisses
Yes, it's been a while
More than a while should be.

It's been a while since I trailed dew drops
It's been a while since I watched the sun rise
It's been a while since I stumbled and laughed
It's been a while since the sky set aflame
And flames drew lovers in a death embrace

Yes, it's been a while
More than a while should be.

It's sleepwalk and thunder
Is all we do now
Break pigeons nests
And warm eggs
Is all we do now
Catch hailstones
And lightning
And throw balls of fire
And wake and slumber
Is all we do now
For it's been a while since spring and things forgotten
It's been a while since summer mornings and midnight goodbyes
It's been a while since dewy sleep and bubblegum kisses
Yes, it's been a while
More than a while should be
And I can't hold on any longer
For it's been longer than long should be.

    1. Why thank you. And I don't have the patience for longer, that's all.

    2. I keep my pieces short, mostly. I don't have the patience for elaboration. Except I seem to be doing just that at the moment. Oh well.

    3. short is good. but when someone comes looking, shouldnt he be allowed more than the summary? :)

    4. Readers are allowed only stories. Stories behind stories are best left to be desecrated posthumously.
