Miri

We scratch nails.
Peel paint.
And suddenly we can cleanse ourselves.
Suddenly we have power.
If only everything peeled off.
Dry skin.
Potatoes.
The plastic covers on books.
On shoelaces.
And everything else that matters.
For that's all she does.
Bites lips.
And winces.

  1. "If only everything peeled off." I wish that sometimes but certain things in life just cling to us, even when we desperately want to let go of them. So many emotions to dig out of this piece. Well penned.

    1. Thank you. Perhaps the plastic covers should stay on. Perhaps without coverings we'd be too free, too powerful. Perhaps these are consolations. Perhaps.
